Fundraising doesn’t always have to be a big production. If you’re a small organization you’ve got to get creative and think outside the box for fundraising ideas that are fun and cost efficient. We’ve come up with some ideas you might have missed!
As a small organization, your options for raising money may be limited. As much as you’d like to host a gala, that option might not be within your budget capabilities. Ideally you’d like to provide your guests and donors with a fun event that doesn’t break the bank. These days the best way to stir up some fun is to go retro! It can be quite challenging to come up with charity event ideas that are fresh, new and fun. That’s why I say why not simply take a new look at an old approach!
Bingo
I know what you’re thinking. Bingo? What could be more boring? But I say give bingo another chance! I recently attended Rebel Bingo and as their tag line states it was 'not your grandmother’s bingo.' There was a DJ, a bar, an Emcee and 2 costumed assistants on stage reading out numbers. People who got Bingo had to run on stage and then battle it out with another person for the main prize. In all only 4 prizes were given, the most expensive being a bike and nothing that would break the bank. People were there for the experience more so than the music Attendees where encouraged to dress up and write on each other during the show. You need not appropriate all these ideas but the point is bring some liveliness into the endeavor and guests are sure to enjoy themselves!
Decade Themed Party
People love nostalgia. They love hearing songs from their era, movies from their era, anything that will remind them of the good old days. People don’t even have to be that high up in years to feel out of sync with the mainstream culture. These days, you’ll hear 25 year-olds saying "back when I was a kid," so give the people what they want! Throw a themed decade party. Take note of the age of your donors and figure out a good decade to party to. Encourage costumes and themed drinks. Make it a blast from the past!
Karaoke
Heineken hosted a karaoke party recently for their Heineken Serenades Karaoke campaign and the line was around the block! People were eager to get in and belt out songs with friends. Karaoke machines aren’t that costly just rent a karaoke machine, sell tickets per song or charge an admission fee, and sing all night. A good idea for any small organization. You can also make this a themed event as well, sing only songs from a certain decade or only holiday songs.Do you have any fundraising ideas for small organizations?
